When the National Geographic filmmakers described it as 'the ultimate full moon shot', they weren’t kidding!

Adventurer Dean Potter and photographer Michael Schaefer helped to create an incredible image as Potter walked a highline at Cathedral Peak, in Yosemite National Park.

The shot was captured during the 2011 filming of the National Geographic Channel show, The Man Who Can Fly, which featured Potter wingsuiting, BASE jumping, and free soloing the upper 600 feet of Freerider (5.12d) on El Cap.

Shot from over a mile mile away with a serious telephoto lens, as Potter begins his unaided walk, you can hear the camera operator, Bryan Smith, take a sharp intake of breath! He wasn't the only one...

Editor's note: On May 16, 2015, Dean Potter and Graham Hunt died tragically during a proximity wingsuit flight in Yosemite. You can read more about it at the New York Times.
