It's some of the most heavily-trafficked and restricted airspace in the world. But with careful planning (and all the right permissions) the Red Bull Air Force team took to the skies above The Big Apple. You can see some of the their preparations here – and now, in the video above, you can find out what it felt like to fly over the city that never sleeps.
“The FAA air space restrictions were a big challenge,” said John Devore, Red Bull Air Force team manager (and wingsuit pilot himself), referring to the three major airports surrounding the proposed jump zone, and the limitations imposed after 9/11.
The pilots flew two miles in under two minutes, and reached speeds of 118 mph (187 kph). It was safe landings for all, and drummed up big excitement for the upcoming Memorial Day weekend air show in nearby Long Island.
