Just a short flight from east coast Australia, Tasmania is an increasingly popular spot for the discerning Australian adventurer.

And as New Zealand-born, Melbourne-based photographer Janna Bennett found it, it's popular for good reason.

"I flew into Hobart and was immediately struck by how similar it was to my home town, Christchurch, before it got hit by the earthquake," she says. "The food was great, the people were friendly, everything just felt homely."

After a couple of days in Hobart, Janna set off on a short road trip up the country's east coast - from Hobart to the Bay of Fires - along the Great Eastern Drive.

"That's where I really fell in love with Tasmania," says Janna. "I'd had people tell me how beautiful it was over there before, but wow, I didn't expect to be that blown away by it. I've been on a lot of great road trips where there are sections through which the scenery is quite boring, but the Great Eastern Drive was stunning the entire way. I found it difficult to do it justice with my camera."

Check out a small selection of Janna's photos below.
