Eefje 'Sjokz' Depoortere: Life of a Legends star

A day in the life of Eefje 'Sjokz' Depoortere: Life of a Legends star.

Today sees the start of a new documentary series on Red Bull, and it’s one we think gamers are going to love. eSports Unfold is dedicated to showcasing a day in the life of an eSports celebrity, be they a player, caster or team: we’re taking fans behind the scene and showing them how much much passion goes into the tournaments we see every week.
We’re kicking things off with a bang too: the first episode features Belgian presenter Eefje “Sjokz” Depoortere, one of the most prominent eSports figures on the continent. Depoortere currently hosts Riot's European League of Legends Championship Series at ESL, and in the pilot we get to see her daily routine off camera, as well as some frank personal insights from one of League’s most recognisable faces. Best of all, you can watch it right here, just hit play on the video above.
Depoortere’s been rooted in the eSports scene for a very long time, cutting her teeth in first person shooters in the early 2000s – her nickname draws from an Unreal Tournament weapon – before becoming involved in the League of Legends scene hosting Summoners Recap and Travis "Tnomad" Gafford's weekly show "Whose League is it anyway?”
Depoortere doesn’t see it as a job however. “The motivation for doing this every day is very easy,” she says. “I’m very lucky to be doing what I do and that’s why I work at it so hard. Just making one person’s day is the best feeling in the world.”

We see Sjokz on her way to work, getting ready for air and unwinding by the banks of the Rhine, where she likes to disconnect. It’s a fascinating glimpse behind the scenes of one of the biggest games in eSports, and with Worlds just weeks away, things are only going to get bigger for Depoortere and her co-hosts.
“In five years I would hope to still be working with League of Legends. I definitely want to keep working with this game because I don’t think I’ll get tired of it anytime soon and I don’t think it’s going anywhere.”
