Seeing as his parents are both avid skydivers and pilots, flying is a common word in Alexandru Nicolau's family. Growing up surrounded by planes and parachutes, it isn't surprising that Nicolau followed suit. His first flying experience came at the age of four, when he went paragliding with his father. By the time he was 11, Nicolau was flying by himself and within a year had also experienced his first parachute jump. When he turned 16, he made his first solo jump. Assisted by his father, he was taught the AFF (Accelerated Free Fall) way. Since then, Nicolau has never stopped jumping.
In 2007, Nicolau joined the Parachuting National Team and on his début appearance at the European Parachuting Championship in Croatia, he finished on the podium. His evolution was a fast one. In his first two years alone, he made over 1,000 jumps and became the Junior Parachuting World Champion (Precision Landing) in 2010. To this day, Nicolau continues to be an inspiration to young sky divers all over the world thanks to his impressive array of accolades at both national and international competitions.
When he's not plummeting towards the earth at 190km/h, he enjoys other activities such as snowboarding, ice-skating and photography. However, Nicolau never spends much time with his feet on the ground. Before long, he's back up in the sky, showing the world what he can do!Read more
