Sixteen of the best b-boys from across Canada met in Toronto to battle it out in the Canadian Cypher of the most iconic global b-boy competition in the world, Red Bull BC One.
In the spotlight was Montreal’s own b-boy Fléau who walked away with the first place win after surviving an exhausting 4 battle rounds and besting his 15 opponents with a blend of style and power. His final opponent of the night was b-boy Phil of Vancouver, making it a true battle of East vs West.
His set definitely impressed judges Ronnie, Kid David and OG Toronto b-boy, Buddah who founded Canada’s first b-boy crew, Canadian Floor Masters during the early 80’s.
With a packed house of more than 700 fans from across Canada, it was clear that the arrival of Red Bull BC One in Canada was a significant event for anyone involved in the b-boy scene.
While a handful of Canadians have travelled to participate at Red Bull BC One Cyphers in other countries, never before has there been a showcase of exclusively homegrown talent in the competition.
Fléau will now represent Canada at the Red Bull BC One North American Final 2015 in Orlando, Florida.
