The deal for Amsterdam was: play a gig and you can stay at our hostel for free. Still, sleeping in was not part of the deal, so our heroes have found shelter in an all-girl household…
Last night in Amsterdam Hanno, Max, David and Jamie played an amazing gig and did a really good job. And they slept in comfy beds for free.
What wouldn’t have been included in the deal was a lie-in the next morning. It's, “Knock, knock – housekeeping!” and no hitting the snooze button. But after last night they need it badly. Four days of constantly being on the road and working hard, and the first big gig, do take a toll.
After the gig, female fans almost ran them over and posed with them for photos. At some point, the sleepy film crew had to leave for their beds while the boys partied on. So we will probably never know what else was going on that night. But the tired eyes and sleepy voices the next morning aren’t that easy to hide. The only thought that keeps them going is the promise of another comfy bed at a friend’s house for tonight.
An early wake-up call isn't the only trial for Team Defender today. The fifth member of the group is waiting desperately to be picked up from the sketchy parking spot. Not a fun thing to do, followed by the even less enjoyable task of having to play Tetris with all the equipment again, packing the Land Rover wisely so that everyone can sit. They should really start taking the time for every single packing and unpacking and see where they’ll be at in 35 days.

The idea of driving around Amsterdam looking for a camping ground is not so well received as the sunny skies have slowly turned to grey and it begins to rain again. Their friend Lily is nowhere to be found and the hope of staying at hers and having an early night slowly diminish. Unfortunately they only have half of Lily’s address left, plus a rather hesitant message in their mailbox: “Erm, I’m really busy, but if you don’t find anything else you can stay with me.”
But they wouldn’t be our boys if they gave up easily. How to talk Lily into opening her heart and letting them stay at her place for one night? Piece of cake! Of course, they succeed. Four pairs of begging eyes and four times gentlemen’s charm do the trick. And not only that…
When they finally arrive at Lily’s place – after a couple of detours through the city, because apparently the half of the girl’s address they have is wrong – six girls are already waiting for them with homemade burgers and beer. What a treat, in every respect. The boys are so flabbergasted, they just sit there wondering and accepting the beer they are handed.
Plans of having an early night are instantly revised and swapped for much better things…
