Russ Henshaw defied heavy rain to claim the Big Air Ski Finals title at London’s Battersea Power Station. But the only thing that amazed him was his score.

The Australian’s impressive Double Cork 1260° on his final run, which included a two-handed mute grab all the way through his rotation, saw him to victory.

He was awarded an unbelievable 99 points out of 100, pipping American rival Bobby Brown by the narrowest of margins.

Afterwards a delighted Henshaw said: "At first I didn’t want to start. At some point there was so little snow left on the ramp that it looked like a water ramp.

"But after a few hits the jumps even felt quite comfortable even with the plastic snow in-run. It is amazing to win with such a score under such riding conditions!"

The Freeski Big Air was the highlight of the three-day London Freeze festival which saw a kicker, stretching more than 30 metres into the air, installed on London’s South Bank. More than 500 tonnes of fresh snow were shipped in.
