Redbullcrashedice.com has teamed up with the best ice cross downhill racers to get the inside track on the 2012 World Championship. 2010 Red Bull Crashed Ice champion Martin Niefnecker posts next on his first impressions of Saint Paul and how happy he is to be lining up for the first race of the season after a serious car crash last summer.
Hi everyone,
I arrived in Saint Paul on Tuesday and I think it's a pretty cool city for hosting a big event like Red Bull Crashed Ice. The track looks amazing and is directly in front of this huge cathedral, and then there's a nice view down to the big river.
For me personally, I hope that I'm in good enough shape for this winter because I had a really bad car accident in the summer when I broke my leg and my knee was totally destroyed!
I'm looking forward to getting back on the track for the first time this year, and I will do my best to come back and try to beat the other guys!
In the summer, after my accident, I spent a lot of time having physiotherapy for my leg, so right now I think everything should be fine for me to compete in the events this season.
After my leg healed, I did a lot of exercise in the gym and outdoors with the former fitness coach of the german ski cross national team and I think this really helped me a lot.
Let's find out this weekend who's in the best shape to win the first race of the season! Can't wait!
Martin
