Candide Thovex produced one of the most dazzling runs ever to win the 2010 Red Bull Linecatcher title in Vars la Forêt Blanche, France.
The 27-year-old Frenchman claimed a home victory with a massive cork 720 tailgrab off the first cliff, a 360 on the middle kicker, and sent a massively deep flatspin 360 off the final cliff.
'I am really overwhelmed to find myself on the top of the podium' - Candide Thovex
He showed that he is back to his best after his accident in 2007 as he finished ahead of Canada’s teenage skiing prodigy Sean Pettit and American CR Johnson.
Thovex reflected: "This is my first event since my injury and I wanted to know where I was after a year of training.
'When Julien Régnier Lafforgue invited me and told me who would compete, I could not refuse. I am really overwhelmed to find myself on the top of the podium, especially when you see the big guns.”
Pettit, who earned the Oakley Sick-O-Award for the best trick for a huge 360 on a 50 foot drop, added of finishing runner-up to Thovex: "This event is simply awesome. I could not be more pleased, everyone killed it."
And Johnson, returning to competition after a four year absence, said of finishing third: "Today is a blessing. The vibe of the mountain and the people were truly amazing. It was a beautiful day."
