Under the Friday night lights of the famous Cotton Bowl in Dallas, Texas, Red Bull Game Breakers crowned its inaugural winner, St. Augustine High School.

The Dallas Cowboys' cheerleaders (pictured) were among the 2,000 American football fans cheering on their home teams as the tournament final attracted the best in blue chip talent.

It was high school football with a difference. For the first time in 7 on 7 history, players had the chance to score on both sides of the ball. Slick interceptions, first downs, touchdowns, defensive stops in the red zone… they all put points on the board.

After six regional qualifiers, taking in 72 teams, and an action-packed final evening on Friday, it was New Orleans’ St. Augustine High School who defeated Houston’s Cy-Fair, 31-14.

“It was a wonderful experience for us to come out here and play tonight,” said Terry Lucas of St. Augustine. “What really put us over the edge is we came out here humble and focused, knowing what it takes to get the win. We listened to our coach and came through with the win.”

Cy Fair were earlier involved in one of the games of the tournament as they defeated Lake Travis in the semi-finals, coming back from 10 points down to win by a single point, 21-20, as the clock expired.

Christian Cook of Cy-Fair said afterwards: "Red Bull Game Breakers is so different from other tournaments."
