The Grande Brazile cargo ship, carrying the racing and support vehicles for the 2010 Argentina-Chile Dakar, docked in Lima, Argentina, on Wednesday.

A total of 550 vehicles, most of which will be raced in the rally but also including vehicles to be used by the support teams, organisers and media, were unloaded this morning.

Yesterday, a team of specialists unloaded all the equipment that left Le Havre in France on November 30. The competition vehicles are now locked in parc fermé for technical and administrative verifications next week.

Meanwhile while Mark Miller’s VW Touareg waits for him in Argentina, the American racing driver has been “practising” for the South American deserts. He Twittered that he’s spending the holidays in Colorado and “snowmobiling: great practice for Stage 3 of Dakar, The white sand of Fiambala!!”

Watch Mark get some proper practice in the Dakar on Snow in Flachau, Austria – the official send-off for the VW Team, with reigning champion Giniel de Villiers, Busty Walters and Petr Pilat.
