In his latest blog, Honda’s disappointed MotoGP star Dani Pedrosa takes stock of his collarbone fracture in Japan, but has some good news for his many fans.
Hello everyone
I wish I could be writing today after a very different Japanese Grand Prix, but that’s this sport for you. Now that a couple of days have passed since the fall and I’ve had the operation, I can tell you I’m well and I think I’ll be able to make a return to the track soon. I can’t tell you exactly when it will be, because, from my own experience, I know how flexible the recovery time can be, and it all depends on how my condition evolves in the coming days.
I can tell you that I will start rehabilitation soon, though, even without focusing on a return date. The important thing is to recover well.
'The truth is that, after this weekend, I have a lot to be thankful for'
On the fall itself, I can’t really add anything you don’t know already. It was just the result of bad luck. I can’t help thinking about what might have been, but as I say, it was bad luck, this time it was my turn, and now I have to get up and get on with it. With careers and life in general, you always have to look forwards.
The truth is that, after this weekend, I have a lot to be thankful for. Marc Márquez, team-mate and friend, remembered me and dedicated his own victory to me two days after my fall, which was a nice touch. He’s a great rider and a great person.
Above all, I have to thank you, my fans. First, thanks for all the birthday wishes [Dani was 25 last week]. Second, thanks for all the outpouring of support this weekend. And also, thank you for trusting me so much this year, for following me and always believing in the possibility of my winning the World Championship. Your support is always a plus when I get on the bike.
Thank you very much and a big hug to you all.
