Looking for some evening attire with flair? Check out Decadent Design, the line from Toronto designer Olga Lipnitski.

Olga Lipnitski specializes in custom made, alternative clothing for women. Olga’s clothing line Decadent Design is influenced by Gothic fashion and insinuates the romantic trends of the past.

According to her biography, as a child, the imaginative designer used to dig holes in the ground, hoping to find a treasure chest filled with Victorian ball gowns. In an effort to merge dreamland with reality, Olga has transplanted her visions into a collection of attire such as elegant evening/cocktail dresses, seductive corsets, waist cinchers and bustiers, Gothic dresses and PVC clubwear.

Her pieces are incredibly distinctive and have been seen on runways, custom created for a variety of clients, and were recently used in a music video by Jhevon Paris Ft. Girlicious and Pat K. Such an unusual clothing line struck up many questions in my mind, which could only be addressed by Olga herself:

What is the inspiration behind your designs?
My inspirations are rather elusive, even to myself; I just have an idea in my head and try my best to bring to life. I guess the ideas come fromthings I see around me, like shapes and silhouettes. I am also inspired by the Gothic sub culture, Victorian Era and the elegant styles of the early 20th century.

How did you come up with your company name?
I have always liked the sound of the word Decadent; there is something about it that projects a certain life style, not just a passing trend, it defies the norm despite of its literal meaning, which is a state of decay.

What is the most outrageous outfit that you have created so far?

I would not refer it as outrageous, rather complex or elaborate. My style is more about sensual elegance and mystery, than the shock factor. That being said, the outfit in question would have to be the Black Satin Architecture Gown.

Who do you mainly design for?

If you asked a friend of mine, they would say: “ for herself”, I began designing for myself years ago, as I could not find the kind of clothing Iwanted in local stores, soon after, people started asking me where I bought my clothes and before I knew it, I was designing and sewing custom outfits for others. My market is rather diverse these days; it can be anyone in the Goth scene to a regular girl who wants a unique dress for a special occasion.

Has anything else newsworthy recently come up for Decadent Designs?
Recently a few of my pieces have been used for a music video for a local artist. It is exciting to see my work on TV.
