Red Bull Audi driver Mattias Ekström will start from third place on the grid at the EuroSpeedway in Lausitz, Germany on Sunday, as he chases a quickfire DTM double.
The Swedish sensation scored a convincing win in the previous round in Valencia, Spain and after finishing less than a quarter of a second behind pole sitter Paul Di Resta at the 3.478 kilometres circuit at the EuroSpeedway, Ekström was more than pleased with his qualifying run.
“I am really happy being third," he said. "Today, we found out quite soon that we weren’t really able to keep the pace. As a result, we made some changes and then it went better. Tomorrow, I will focus on a good start and I hope that the team will be doing its job as usual."
Former F1 star David Coulthard enjoyed his best result so far in DTM after 17th place on the grid at Hockenheim and 14th position at Valencia, the Scot set the eighth fastest time at Lausitz, while Ekström's Red Bull team-mate Martin Tomczyk will start from 10th place on the grid.
