As Sebastien Ogier gears up for some fun in the sun at the WRC Argentina Rally, we grab some time to fire five quick questions at him...
This is only your second time here what do you think of the place?
"It’s a great country. We came early to this rally and had a road show in the middle of Buenos Aires last weekend. It was fantastic, incredible. There were so many people watching, the atmosphere was really nice. We were doing some donuts and jumping around near to the famous obelisk in the middle of the city and the people all loved it."
That sounds like fun…
"It was, it was really good. The people loved our Citroen DS3 WRC in Buenos Aires and from what we’ve seen on the stages today, they seem to like it on the rally as well."
How has today gone?
"It’s okay. I am quite satisfied and happy. I have only done this event one time, so the other drivers have more experience than me here, so my times are okay. The car has been very good today, we haven’t had any problems at all. The middle stage of the loop - Mina Clavero - was really rough, that was not such a nice stage."
This is a gravel rally, but the organisers have put in some asphalt sections in some of the stages. What have you thought of those?
"I didn’t really like that, they were too fast and too wide. It was quite difficult. We also had a puncture on the left-rear tyre. I didn’t hit anything to get the puncture, it was simply because the tyres ran out of tread and burst. We are using the soft compound tyre on this rally and coming onto the asphalt after we have done a lot of kilometres on the gravel is tough."
What’s your approach to the rest of the event?
"I want to win. I know I have the disadvantage because of not being here so much as the others, but I want to drive as fast as I can and to try and take some points off the leader of the championship - my team-mate Sebastien Loeb. As well as that, I can enjoy this rally and the atmosphere, it’s definitely one of the best of the year."
