The Red Bull Music Academy had their first ever album release party this week, bringing out Gaslamp Killer and some very special friends at the Mayan in downtown Los Angeles for the release of GLK's debut, Breakthrough.
It was a sold-out show with 1,300 people looking forward to a night full of surprise guests alongside GLK. As the night progressed Computer Jay, J-Rocc, and Adrian Younge & Venice Dawn set the tone with their high-energy sets, warming up the crowd for what was to come, while GLK weaved in and out on the turntables alongside each artist's set.
Later in the night, Eprom's bass-heavy performance had the audience in a frenzy, just in time for William Bensussen to take the stage. GLK provided an overload of entertainment; his high-octane demeanour onstage and his set-debuting songs off his new album had the Mayan in pure excitement and then suddenly none other than Flying Lotus, the RBMA alumnus, took to the stage!
GLK and Flying Lotus (pictured, above) tore down the Mayan, while a set from Daedelus proved to be the final chapter of a very memorable night.
