Andrew Henderson receives trophy from Edgar Davids Richie Hopson / Red Bull Photofiles

Andrew Henderson will fly the flag for the UK in the Red Bull Street Style world final in South Africa next year after winning the London final.

The 17-year-old from Truro, Cornwall beat last year’s winner John Whetton thanks to a number of jaw-dropping combos in what was an outstanding contest, dubbed the "best so far" by Dutch soccer legend Edgar Davids.

The former Ajax, Juventus and Barcelona midfielder was part of the judging panel with last year’s Red Bull Street Style world champion Arnaud ‘Séan’ Garnier and was clearly impressed by the level of skills on display by the Brits.

Davids, who handed Henderson the trophy in Camden Town’s stunning St Michael’s Church, said: “The UK final was incredible, the best so far and the standard in the final was spectacular.”

Henderson blew the judges away with his freestyling prowess and is already looking forward to taking on the world’s best in Cape Town in April, 2010. He said: “This is the best day of my life, I’ve had such an amazing night. The final in South Africa is going to be a real challenge but I’m up for it.”

There will be 57 countries in all around the world sending Street Stylers to compete in the world final in Cape Town.
