The Legs Of Steel Freeski crew are about to unleash their latest epic movie. You can watch Hurt So Good on redbull.tv for 24h on 24 September at 21:00 CET. We spoke to Tobi Reindl, one of the four founding members of Legs Of Steel, to get a little closer to the action…
I can speak for all the guys when I say we’ve really put our hearts into this movie. As skiers and also as filmmakers we have put blood, sweat and tears into the project and it’s great to know it’s going out there for people to take a look at. We’ve already shown the movie to a few people and the reactions have been very positive so we hope the same thing happens following the redbull.tv release on Monday.
Our previous two movies (Nothing Else Matters and Pilot) went down well and we have been recognised by the Powder Video Awards so hopefully Hurt So Good will also be well received. In fact last week we picked up an award for cinematography for Hurt So Good at the IF3 Freeski Film Festival in Montreal so it seems like people are still enjoying what we do.
It was a bit of a surprise when we won our award in Montreal because the other films they play at that festival are always really great. The cinematography award doesn’t usually go to a group of newcomers like us but we know we did a sick job so we were happy just to be nominated. We all had a good night out after we had won and we were especially pleased for our friend Andre Nutini because of all the hard work he has put into the project.
I definitely think we have stepped things up for Hurt So Good, the filming is way more diverse than on our previous projects. The feedback so far has been amazing and it feels like we have taken another step up. Now we just have to see what feedback we get once the film goes live on redbull.tv. Only then we will we know for sure if we have made a movie that lots of people are going to enjoy.
We really couldn’t have planned things any better, the way things have worked out for us so far has been great. When we did our first movie we were just four guys and since then things have got a little bigger but we have always maintained that same feeling we had back then. When we invite other people into our movies we need to know that there will be no big egos on the set, we’re all in this together as friends and as skiers. Everybody we have worked with so far has really embraced this ‘Band of Brothers’ feeling behind the project and I think this comes across in the movies.
Maintaining this atmosphere on the set is the most important thing to us as we start to think about our next project. But for now we hope you enjoy Hurt So Good on redbull.tv
Cheers,
Tobi
