Felipe Massa’s karting event last Saturday and Sunday had so many F1 drivers on the grid it was almost like Round 20 of this year’s world championship and Scuderia Toro Rosso’s Jaime Alguersuari was the winner.
The Saturday night race was run in the wet and Sunday’s leg, held in the daytime was run in the dry. At first, GP2 racer Jules Bianchi was thought to have won – he did cross the line first – but he had to be disqualified from the second race when his kart was found to be slightly underweight.
Jaime was joined on the podium in Florianapolis, Brazil by Lucas di Grassi and Rubens Barrichello. In the first race, Jaime had come second to Bianchi, with Massa third.
