Despite seeing Red Bull Salzburg’s run in soccer’s Europa Cup come to an end with a 1-0 defeat to Poland’s Lech Poznan, skipper Eddie Gustafsson enters the mid-season break in the Austrian Bundesliga in an optimistic mood...
Hey there,
I'm really happy for the opportunity to publish my blogs and keep you posted about myself and Red Bull Salzburg.
Although I'm still injured I was, of course, at the stadium on Thursday to watch our last game in the Europa League against Lech Poznan. It was a pity that we lost – I think the guys played really well and we created some solid chances. But unfortunately, we didn't put them away and that’s something we need to work on in training next year.
But while it was disappointing to lose, I still think that it was important that we won our last game of the year in the Bundesliga. It was good for our self-confidence and, at the same time, it’s a nice little thank you to all the fans for supporting us through thick and thin.
Right now, I can tell you that I feel great. I'm back training with the squad again and working hard on getting myself match fit. I can't wait to play again next year.
Yesterday was our last training session as a team in Taxham and now I'm packing for my trip to Sweden tomorrow. My family and I rented a small ski lodge and we’re going to celebrate Christmas there.
But I'll leave my skis at home so I can go sledding with my two boys.
I wish you a Merry Christmas and a happy New Year! See you in 2011.
Eddie
