Tanner Hall remains the only athlete to have a three peat at the Winter X Games. The 26-year-old free-skiing sensation from Kalispell, Montana has triumphantly met every challenge with his trademark effortless style and industriousness. We caught up with him to find out 10 things you might not know.
1. When did you first get involved in the free skiing?
My first 360 was when I was eight.
2. Did you fear you might never compete again after your crash at Stevens Pass, Washington.
Yes, I did. I shouldn't be walking right now and somehow I am. I must have had a guardian angel nearby.
3. What if anything frightens you after that?
I am afraid of bees because I think I’m allergic but I’m not sure.
4. You go snowboarding too, which is your favourite?
I prefer skiing to Snowboarding, because... I’m better at skiing than snowboarding, and you can go faster and bigger.
5. What would you be doing if you weren’t a professional skier?
I think I would be a botanist.
6. Who is your hero?
It has to be Travis Pastrana. He has to be the greatest sports genius on the planet. He calculates risk for a living and is the best at what he does.
7. What’s the most important quality in a sportsman?
Humility. We are only skiers that's it nothing more. We’re not rock stars like Mick Jagger.
8. What’s the first thing you notice when you look at a girl?
Her smile.
9. What’s the worst thing about climate change?
Climate warming sucks. It takes away my fluff more and more every year.
10. What’s up next for you?
After writing this stuff I am going to get ready for the day.
