After his opening victory at Greifensee, Switzerland, four-time overall Boulder champion Kilian Fischhuber has clinched another win in his home World Cup event in Austrian capital Vienna.

The season couldn’t have started better for Kilian – two victories in the first two world cups mean the maximum of 200 possible points and the lead in the current standings over Adam Ondra from the Czech Republic.

Kilian entered the competition as the clear favourite for the win, and therefore expectations were high of the local hero. But he stood up to the pressure, led the competition from the qualification to the final and came out as the deserved winner. In fact, Kilian had secured his victory even before entering the fourth boulder challenge, as he was the only one to deal with two of the very difficult final boulders.

Kilian has already headed to Colorado, USA, where the next World Cup event will be hosted at Vail this weekend. The air will be thin for the climbers due to the altitude of almost 2,400m (7,900ft), but Kilian has dealt with that perfectly in the past, placing first and third in the past two years.

Slovenia’s Natalija Gros placed seventh in Austria and unfortunately missed the finals by only one place, while Russia’s Rustam Gelmanov placed 11th and Jenny Lavarda from Italy finished 30th.
