A special appearance by a certain Norwegian duo is just one of the highlights of our latest round-up of all the essential music news…
Want to see the creators of one of 2010's most incredible albums do it live? Well, handily the creators in question, Lindstrøm & Christabelle (pictured), will be making a rare live appearance at London's swinging Fabric this weekend. The duo will be performing tracks from their album Real Life Is No Cool, and will be ably supported by The Phenomenal Handclap Band, Andy Butler of Hercules & Love Affair and Rub N Tug. Fabric knocks out amazing nights on a regular basis, so always good to keep an eye on www.fabriclondon.com. In the meantime, here’s an interview we had with Lindstrøm in December.
MGMT have posted the first fruits of their upcoming second album online this week. The album, entitled Congratulations, is out on April 12, and despite claiming there'll be no singles, they've popped a free track entitled Flash Delirium on their official site www.whoismgmt.com. The duo are in the process of sorting out a summer tour, so that site would be your best home for that sort of thing.
Legendary noisy German foursome Atari Teenage Riot have announced they are to reunite for a one-off London gig this May. The band, who split in 2000, will play Camden's Electric Ballroom on May 12. Alongside Alec Empire, Hanin Elias and Nic Endo for the reunion – original member Carl Crack died in 2001 – will be MC CX Kidtronik. The band will also release a new single, Activate, on May 17 on their own label Digital Hardcore Recordings. That noise in the background will be Crystal Castles realising their time is up.
