Márquez remains philosophical

Marc Márquez had mixed feelings after being torpedoed by Joan Olivé on the final lap of the 125cc season in Valencia.

The Repsol rider, who had been challenging for fourth place when the collision occurred, had to settle for 17th.

While he was disappointed by the way in which his season ended, Márquez was able to take many positives from a campaign which has seen him finish eighth overall in the final standings with 94 points, 195 adrift of champion Julián Simón.

He said: “From the start, I saw that it was going to be a difficult race because it was really windy. I stayed in the second group because I couldn't follow Smith and Simón.

“Towards the end, I collided with Olivé and we know that these things happen, but it has already happened many times this year, when he was a little aggressive. I hope he comes to apologise because he clearly threw me off.

“Anyway, I'm happy with how the year has gone, because I've learnt a lot and I hope that we can approach next season well.”

Simón recorded his fourth win in five races - his seventh of the season - as he managed to hold off the challenge posed by Bradley Smith.

The Spaniard came home 0.220 seconds clear of his British team-mate, who was already assured of the runners-up spot in the championship, while Pol Espargaró finished third.
