How do you follow the longest motorbike jump in history? For Robbie Maddison in Las Vegas last year, the only way was up.

Red Bull: New Year. No Limits returned to Las Vegas exactly 12 months ago but this time Maddison was planning the world's biggest step up/step down using the 96-foot-high and 40-foot-deep replica of the Arc de Triomphe in Las Vegas as a platform.

In front of a crowd of 300,000 party-goers, the Australian daredevil accelerated to 55 miles per hour and launched his bike more than 100-feet into the air. He hit the sweet spot – the perfect landing.

“What more is there to say?” said the commentator. “Now comes what is said to be the hardest part. As if 10-stories sky-rocketing into the air isn’t enough, you’ve got to fall back down.”

Maddison circled the top of the famous Parisian replica three times, checking his bike was in the right gear before dropping off the side with his eyes set on the ramp more than 60-feet below.

The immense force of the landing lacerated Maddison’s left hand but the 27-year-old had made it back down to Earth in one piece and rode across to the waiting arms of his girlfriend Amy Sanders as the Las Vegas crowd erupted in applause once again.

“I knew there could have been major consequences, but that is what pushing the limits is all about,” said Maddo.
