After another victory, this time in Malaysia, 125 rider Marc Márquez explains in his latest blog that he has a very special treble on his mind as he heads to Australia.
Hi everyone!
I'm really happy with how things went in Malaysia. The truth is that it was a weekend where everything went without a hitch. I want to pay tribute again to the work of Aki Ajo and the whole team, because they have been incredible throughout the weekend. We knew that Malaysia was a difficult grand prix for many reasons, including the temperature and the choice of tyres, so the victory tastes even better.
We developed a great set-up of the bike throughout the weekend. At the beginning of the race, the feeling was not perfect, but then again I knew I had to warm up thoroughly before risking the tyres. Getting away from the pack in Malaysia is very complicated, and Nico Terol was chasing very hard, so I had to keep everyone on tenterhooks about when I was going to press my advantage in full confidence and comfort.
'I was delighted to see how two Spanish riders got the job done winning the title, both in MotoGP and Moto2, last weekend. I hope to complete the treble with the title in my category'
In the end, it was a good decision to be patient and wait, and to squeeze the hard racing into the final eight laps, as it brought the reward that patience deserves. Fortunately for me, Pol Espargaró finished second ahead of Nico, and as a result I’ve opened up a little daylight between Nico and myself in the championship. I took a forward step in Malaysia, which makes me happy and raring to go as we hit the home stretch.
Now we’re hard at work thinking about Australia this weekend. We’ve not much time to prepare, but Phillip Island is a circuit I like very much. I know it will be difficult, but I am more encouraged with each passing grand prix and have the mindset to progress race by race towards winning the championship. The support of all the fans gives me even more strength to face each race. So, thanks for everything!
I also want to congratulate Jorge Lorenzo and Toni Elías for their victories. I was delighted to see how two Spanish riders got the job done winning the title, both in MotoGP and Moto2, last weekend. I hope to complete the treble with the title in my category. With the team's work, the mood of the fans and my effort, we can do it!
All the best
