With the Portugal MotoGP just around the corner, Moto2 rider Marc Marquez is gearing up for action. Will memories of previous 125cc successes at Estoril spur him on to victory?
Hi,
After a few weeks' break in between competitions, I am finally getting the chance to ride my bike in Portugal this weekend - and I can't wait!
The past few weeks have seen me continue with a fitness plan that has got me into very good shape for all the races ahead.
On Thursday morning, we'll arrive at the circuit and begin to prepare for the Grand Prix this weekend. The truth is that we have a lot of work to do before the big race because Estoril is a very tricky circuit.
The plan we have for Portugal is to stay behind and take advantage of the GP on Tuesday and Wednesday to continue with our testing. Clearly, I am doing all I can do to accumulate the miles on my bike and adjust to the challenges of the new category. It's a process we worked with in Jerez and the results we got were positive.
In terms of challenges we're likely to be faced with on the day, we know well that the wind and other climatic factors also determine the result so we're going to have to concentrate harder than ever.
Last year's Portugal MotoGP was one of the most exciting races of my life. My memories of Estoril are really good, but now I'm in another category and things are different. All I can say is that the team and I will work hard to get the first points of the season this weekend.
Greetings!
Marc
