Red Bull Ajo Motorsport rider Marc Marquez claimed his 10th MotoGP 125 victory of the season in stunning fashion in Estoril, Portugal on Sunday.
With the weekend's racing being severely affected by continuous rain in Portugal, the Grande Premio de Portugal was delayed until the afternoon and reduced to a nine-lap affair.
The original race was called-off due to the weather with 16 laps left and with Marquez vying for the lead with title rivals Nico Terol, Pol Espargaro and Bradley Smith and it was decided that those positions would stand for the later restart.
However, with the track still damp, Marquez slid off during the sighting lap and was unable to get to the starting grid in time, as his Derbi needed some urgent attention, so the Spaniard was forced to start the race from the back of the field.
The championship leader showed nerves of steel however to scythe through the field from 17th to fourth place within moments of the re-start and after a battle with Terol out in front it was Marquez who sneaked home for a remarkable win.
The victory means that Marquez is 17 points clear of the rest in the overall standings with one race left in the season and should he win it, he will equal Valentino Rossi's record of 11 wins in a single MotoGP 125 campaign.
