Red Bull Ajo Motorsport rider Marc Marquez has the perfect opportunity to make it four MotoGP 125cc wins in a row after claiming another pole position in the Gran Premi Aperol de Catalunya in Barcelona, Spain on Saturday.
Marquez earned his third consecutive pole position at his home GP by posting a qualifying lap time of 1’50.543 after dominating in the earlier free practice and he will be joined on the front row by championship rivals Pol Espargaro and Nico Terol, with Bradley Smith completing the row.
Both Smith and Marquez surivived minor scares in qualifying, with Smith shrugging off a crash in free practice and Marquez correcting a quick front-end slide with his knee in the latter stages of qualifying to emerge fastest by 0.266 seconds from Espargaro.
