Kris Meeke San Remo Peugeot Press

IRC drivers champion Kris Meeke delivered another dominant performance during the spectacular stage 10 of the Rally of Scotland to increase his lead in the championship’s final race.

Meeke, who had won the title in San Remo before the championship headed to Scotland, once again showed his class in the 33km Loch Ard stage to defeat closest rival Guy Meek by almost half a minute – and the Peugeot driver certainly enjoyed this one.

“That was absolutely fantastic, I have to say that all the rallies I’ve done around the world this stage was the best,” a delighted Meeke said. “The crests and everything make this a pleasure to drive, and we managed to get another eight seconds or so on Guy so it’s all good.”

The British driver’s performance was so good that it drew praise from team boss Marc van Dalen. “Kris drove perfectly,” he said. “Everybody could see on the live TV that he did a fantastic job as he has all year with the Peugeot. I think it’s going to rain again today and there is a long way to go but we are happy at this stage.”

Alister McRae claimed third place in the stage, ahead of Jonathan Greer and David Bogie in fourth and fith positions respectively, while Martin Kangur’s rally came to a halt when his 2WD Honda skidded off to allow Kaspar Koitla to claim seventh ahead of Eamonn Boland in the turbocharged 4WD Subaru.
