Meeke triumphs in Italy Peugeot Press

Reigning IRC champions Kris Meeke and Paul Nagle have been made top seeds in the Monte Carlo Rally next week.

The Irishmen will be leading a strong Peugeot contingent in the race next Monday around the Principality as they are joined by last year’s winner, Citroen Junior Team driver Sébastien Ogier, in a matching 207 S2000.

Meeke will also face stiff competition from the second seed, Mikko Hirvonen, who ran Sébastien Loeb a close second in last year’s WRC. The Finn will be lining up in a Ford Fiesta S2000 prepared by M-Sport.

Meanwhile, the casual spectator should keep an eye open for Renault’s new Formula One driver Robert Kubica, who’s racing in a Renault Clio R3. Following Kimi Raikkonen’s switch to the Red Bull-backed Citroen Junior Team, the Pole became the latest F1 star to try his hand at rally driving.

Monte Carlo will be Kubica’s third rally since Abu Dhabi Grand Prix after he finished 29th on the Rallye du Var in France and crashed out of the Taormina-Messina Rally in Sicily.
