French paragliding star Antoine Montant became the first man to combine acrobatic paragliding and skydiving in one spectacular jump as he performed a series of Infinity tumbles before jettisoning his paraglider in mid-flight and skydiving back down to the ground.

“What drives me is the desire to try new things, to use my skills to access other sensations such as skydiving,” explained Antoine. "And the advantage of being at a good level of paragliding is that it makes it easier to try other aerial disciplines.”

And how? On May 8, Montant, already a world record holder with 120 infinity tumbles and a three-time winner of the Speed Flying Pro Les Arcs, took to the skies from a mountain in France’s Haute-Savoie before beginning his spectacular descent.

Montant began with a series of infinities – that's turning somersaults over the wing of the paraglider. At the height of the turn, he released his paraglider goes into a freefall before opening his chute and landing on the shores of Lake Annecy.
