Pedrosa, Sepang test 2 GEPA Pictures/Gold & Goose

Repsol Honda’s Dani Pedrosa is confident of being in the best possible shape for the season ahead as the third and final MotoGP pre-season test in Qatar begins today.

Dani’s 2009 pre-season schedule was blighted by a wrist injury, but with the damage now healed, Pedrosa can focus on the task in hand this year – making the latest incarnation of the RC212V bike the best it can possibly be ahead of the first race, also at Losail, on April 11.

“I’m starting this season in a really positive mood. In general, it has been a very good winter for me and much better than the last one,” Pedrosa commented. “I have been able to do a lot of physical training and work on my fitness levels. Also I was able to rest after the end of the last season and, even though I had a small operation to remove a screw from my wrist, the recovery period after this was very short and I can begin the year in very good shape.”

Pedrosa admits that there is still work to do on the bike, with the electronics set-up still causing some concern when cornering.

“At the last test in Sepang, we couldn’t make all the progress we would have like to have done,” Pedrosa added, “but we still have two more days of testing ahead of us and we will take the maximum profit from them to prepare for the first race.”

Pedrosa’s team-mate Andrea Dovizioso should also be fit enough to test the sister Repsol Honda machine after suffering from a bout of flu last week that kept him away from the 2010 bike’s official launch in Spain.
