Australian Big Air skier Russ Henshaw took time out of his busy schedule preparing for next week’s Winter X Games 14 to tell us about what it’s like to fly and not stress out… and about being someone else’s pin-up.

What’s the best thing about Big Air?
Having so much hang time. It kind of feels like flying.

Do you have any new tricks ready for X Games?
Not as yet. But I have been working on a few tricks on trampoline, and on the build-up to X Games I will work on them. Hopefully, they’ll go well.

'A fan asked me to sign a poster of someone else. Pretty funny, really'

Do you have any pre-event rituals or superstitions?
I listen to my music and relax so I don’t stress and overthink the event.

What’s the most unusual thing a fan has asked you to do?
A fan asked me to sign a poster of someone else. Pretty funny, really…

Who’s been your toughest opponent to date?
I can’t say one person because everyone is a threat. Everyone is skiing so well at the moment.

Who’s the first person you’ll call if you win X Games gold?
My mum and dad. I am not sure who would be more stoked, them or me.

Which character from Star Wars are you?
No idea. Believe it or not, I have never watched – or had any interest in watching – Star Wars.

If someone made a movie of your life, who would you want to play you?
Brad Pitt or Johnny Depp because the babes love them! [Laughs].

How many friends do you have on Facebook?
Just shy of 1,000. I really want to reach 1,000. [Laughs]

Keep up with the progress of Russ and friends next week at www.xgames.com
