With the Red Bull BC One B-Boys gearing up to shake Moscow to its very foundations on November 26, Nika Kramer gives us the lowdown on how the finalists are getting prepared for the big showdown...

This morning, after settling into our excellent new Moscow hotel, we had our first meeting with some of the competing guys in the practice room. After the meeting, while Thesis, Lil G and El Niño shared some moves, I had a chat with Roxrite and Flying Buddha about their practice routines and about how they feel being at the Red Bull BC One World Finals.

“I'm totally excited about being back. I actually haven’t done a 1-on-1 battle in about a year and I practised really hard for it," said Roxrite. "In September and August, I did a lot of cross fit execising, you know, where you practice in a circle in the gym but very fast without pauses in between. Also breaking of course, but then from September on it was strictly breaking.

“I did a lot to get my stamina up. I can’t tell you exactly how I am training, because you know, you gotta have your secrets, but I can tell you this much: within the last five days I did like 80 full battle rounds!"

'This year it’s on my turf.'

“I'm really happy the event is in Russia this year," said Flying Buddha. "I mean it was great when I battled in the Red Bull BC One in New York, the city being the birthplace of hip-hop and all, but this year it’s on my turf. My people will be here to cheer me on and that will give me crazy energy.

"I didn’t really change my practice routine for the event.  I did a lot of shows lately, so with rehearsals and the shows and the practice times with my crew, I think I will be fine. I don’t feel I should change my routines.

“When I was younger I would practice like crazy to get a move the way I wanted it, but now I have my stuff down. I don’t want to drive myself crazy or get overexcited because then I might get too tense. Just relax and have fun. I know I can do it, I have a good chance this year in my city!”
