More than 200,000 spectators watched Red Bull F1’s Jaime Alguersuari bring Formula One to the Caribbean this weekend.

The Red Bull Running Showcar was the highlight of the Red Bull Formula Santo Domingo event which featured other high-speed thrills such as drift cars, Porsche car runs and karting.

Afterwards Toro Rosso driver Jaime said: "It has been amazing to be in the Dominican Republic. I am very happy that I shared this moment with the best audience ever. I enjoyed every minute on the track.”

And the country were so impressed with our young Spanish driver that Jaime was made a distinguished guest of the city of Santo Domingo by the city’s council.

The day after the Showrun, Jaime became the first F1 driver to race at 180 kph... on sand.
