This coming weekend sees the 21st, 22nd and 23rd races in the 2012 Cooper Tires British F3 Series run at Snetterton, the ex WWII bomber base in Norfolk. Though it has changed a great deal since it was just a linked up series of runways it is still flat and retains some of its early character.
It is now a very testing venue for the Carlos Sainz Jr. and the rest of the British F3 field who come direct from the totally different environs of Spa last weekend where Carlos scored his 4th victory of the year. That has closed the gap on the title leaders with 9 races remaining, at Snetterton, Silverstone and Donington.
The sprint race was cancelled due to heavy rain at Spa so the points from 19 races stand: 1st Serralles (Puerto Rico – 212), 2nd Harvey (GBR – 208), 3rd Jafaar (MAL – 204), 4th Sainz (ESP – 176).
The Red Bull Junior still has to score his first victory in Britain as he had two wins in Monza and one each at Pau and Spa. "A victory like in Spa always gives you plenty of self-confidence, and that's very important in this part of the season. My pace was alright recently, and even qualifying has been working out better lately. And: From now on no more mistakes are allowed in the finale of the season – but the same goes for everyone!"
