Daniil wants the lead back in the Formula Renault 2.0 Alps Series, Races 5 and 6, 26th & 27th May 2012, Imola (ITA)
Red Bull Daniil Kvyat (RUS-Team Koiranen) wants to make the leap back to the top of the standings following the botched races in Pau. Stefan Wackerbauer (GER-Team Koiranen) and Alex Albon (ENG-Team Epic) want to continue scoring points in Italy as well after their maiden top-ten results in the south of France.
Red Bull Junior Daniil Kvyat (RUS) had won the first two races of the season in Monza but then had to be content with just a 7th place finish in Pau following a botched qualifying.
The two other Red Bulls in this series, Alex Albon (ENG) and Stefan Wackerbauer (GER), scored their first top-ten results and hence their first points in the south of France.
For Imola the objectives are clear-cut: Kvyat wants to make the leap back from 3rd place and the two rookies Albon and Wackerbauer want to successfully resume their phase of learning and score in both races.
Daniil Kvyat: “After having been able to win the first four races in the Alps Series and in the Eurocup, my race weekend in Pau was basically already over following my crash in free practice. In Imola I’m going to give it my all to follow up on my series of wins again and make it back to the very top.”
Wackerbauer: “I’m coping better and better from race to race and hope for another improvement in Imola. Speed-wise it should be enough for a podium finish before long – following my eighth place in Pau.”
Albon: “I think I’m on the right track, after my 10th place in Pau and a strong race with lots of overtaking. For Imola I expect this development to continue, the circuit should suit me.”
