Lewis Williamson struggled in the opening Renault 3.5 weekend Red Bull

Formula Renault 3.5 Series 2012, Race 2, Motorland Aragon (ESP). Lewis Williamson (SCO, Arden Caterham) out early.

The second race of the Formula Renault 3.5 Series at Motorland Aragon and Lewis Williamson (SCO) realised after qualifying on Sunday morning that the gap to the best drivers and cars is too great at the moment.

The deficit to pole sitter Arthur Pic (FRA) was more than 2 seconds. Lewis had the disappointment of 24th on row 12.

The 2nd race was again 45 minutes plus one lap this time with a mandatory pit stop. At the start Marco Sörensen moved into 1st place ahead of Sam Bird, with pole sitter Pic only in 5th.

Williamson had got up to 14th after the opening lap, but he was forced to retire shortly afterwards. “Turn 15 I lost the rear off the car in traffic,” explained the Scot. “I struggled with front left pulling an locking....”

Sörensen was in charge of events at the front before he dropped back to the tail end of the field following hostile contact on the 10th lap.

Robin Frijns was the new leader ahead of Sam Bird. These two also crossed the finish line in that order. Arthur Pic took 3rd.
