Perhaps the only thing more difficult this weekend than landing perfect technical tricks at Red Bull Manny Mania is predicting the weather. But no matter if it’s sun or clouds, the Red Bull Manny Mania World Final on Saturday and Red Bull Manny Mania Pro on Sunday will take place - the skaters from 31 counties are eager to get on their boards and show the New Yorkers what a good manual looks like!
On their first day in town the skaters made sure to get warmed up for the big day. “Just a few weeks ago the very first skate park in my town opened, until then I’ve only known street skating, but NYC is a skaters’ paradise for me!” said Konstantinos Mavridis from Athens, Greece. After skating spots from the Court House Square to the Brooklyn Bridge and encounters with some young New York ladies, Marten Rapp from Sweden had a big smile on his face, “this is probably the best weekend of my life!”
After a fully packed day of skating the Big Apple the guys got cleaned up at a local laundry salon, to make sure they look their best on their boards for the World Final event. The Red Bull Manny Mania World Final will showcase the top amateur skater from 31 nations. Skaters from diverse lands like Serbia, South Africa, Kazakhstan and Brazil will be fighting for a prize in the spotlight, with the winner gaining a spot in the 5th annual Red Bull Manny Mania Pro contest on Sunday. The invite-only contest has drawn thousands to Manhattan’s Coleman Park for what always proves to be a great time for skaters and fans alike. This year will be especially memorable for two skaters as it will mark their pro debut on Sunday – Walker Ryan and Joe Tookmanian.
Both Red Bull Manny Mania events are free and open to the public, taking place on Saturday, August 20th and Sunday, August 21st at 3pm at Coleman Park, Pike & Monroe, Manhattan.
