Playing to his home crowd at the Catalunya MotoGP was only ever going to put extra pressure on the young shoulders of Moto2 rider Marc Marquez, but, as usual, he acquitted himself in fine style with a well-earned second place on the podium...
Hi everyone!
What a weekend at Montmelo! We're very pleased with the outcome of the Grand Prix at Catalunya.
It's always a special event when you get to run at home, and if you get a podium place that joy is even greater. The whole team has worked hard all weekend and we really deserved the good result we got.
"We had to work around the clock to get the bike ready for Sunday."
It really wasn't an easy race to complete. First of all, we had some very bad weather - the rain affected us a lot during pre-race practice and I crashed in the first free practice on Friday. This extra pressure meant we really had to work around the clock to get the bike ready for Sunday.
During the actual race, I managed to deal with the nerves and I set out to put in a good performance, despite having to start from the second line. I was lucky enough to position myself well before the accident between Julian Simon and Kenan Sofuoglu - I wish Julian a speedy recovery from his injuries.
I'm very happy with getting second place, especially after starting on the second line, and I would like to specially to thank the team for all their hard work. The atmosphere at Montmelo has also been spectacular and I'm very appricative to have the people supporting me. To them, I dedicate my second podium place.
We'll continue to work with confidence and without pause because ahead of us now is an intense period of racing. This week, we will prepare for the Silverstone British Grand Prix and try to continue to do well in this tournament. Hopefully this coming weekend will all go well.
I'll talk to you on Monday without fail.
Marc
