Red Bull Thre3style 2012 Canadian National Final

DJ Shub

With 3 genres, 5 DJs, and 15 minutes of sonic infamy, Canada’s top DJs showcased their skills tonight at The Palace in Halifax, Nova Scotia. Five fiercely talented DJs battled their way through 18 qualifying and 5 regionals competitions across Canada to make it to the Red Bull Thre3style National Final, but only one DJ could win. While the art of DJing continues to evolve, one constant remains: rocking the party.

That is exactly what DJ Shub from DJ Shub (Fort Erie, ON) did to earn the title of being the Best Party Rocker in Canada. The first Aboriginal DJ to win the natinal title in Canada, performed to a packed, ready-to-dance crowd at The Palace. DJ Shub proved his champion flare with technical finesse and originality on the decks.

Not holding back on the impact of the title, DJ Shub shared; ‘There are only so many moments in life you remember, tonight was one of them. I’m going to do my very best to represent Canada.’ DJ Shub will be moving onto the Red Bull Thre3style World Finals in Chicago, IL in September 2012, where over 18 countries will be competing for the title.

Each DJ delivered 15 minutes of their signature style incorporating a minimum of 3 genres of music, and most importantly rocking the party, in order to be crowned a national champion. Canada’s finest DJs showcased their skills and ignited The Palace. The judges, hometown hero, Skratch Bastid, SmallTown DJs, Grandtheft (Team Canada DJs) and reigning 2011 Red Bull Thre3style World Champion, DJ Hedpsin, had the hardest jobs of the night, judging the talent for who should be the next Red Bull Thre3style Canadian Champion.

‘Judging is never easy and tonight was no exception, DJ Shub handled the first place like a pro and his polished skills was the deciding factor, amongst a group of fantastic DJs, in an amazing city.‘ – Skratch Bastid

Red Bull Thre3style Canadian National Final made its way to the East Coast for the very first time where the country’s top DJs not only battled for the 2012 title but also got to share the stage with the 2011 Red Bull Thre3style World Champion, Vancouver’s own DJ Hedspin, who performed his winning DJ set filled with technique and throw back jams. The stage was also shared with Hip Hop legend DJ Jazzy Jeff who rocked the crowd with old-school flavour mixed in with new school swagger. Red Bull Thre3style stalwart and Halifax’s very own Skratch Bastid took the stage last and whipped his hometown crowd into a frenzy with his signature club banger set.
