Red Bull X-Fighters Jams Rocked Sri Lanka, Colombo at Galle Face Green with a record 230,000 spectators on site!
Red Bull X-Fighters Jams made its stop in Sri Lanka on November, 6. The stunning show performed by 4 FMX riders and brought to Sri Lanka for the very first time with 230,000 spectators to witness, in the largest open space in Colombo - Galle Face Green promenade, made it the biggest ever spectator Sport event in Sri Lanka.
This year the Red Bull X-Fighters World Tour featured stops in Mexico City (Mexico), Giza (Egypt) , Moscow (Russia), Madrid (Spain), London (Great Britain) and Rome (Italy). At the same time, the Red Bull X-Fighters Jams, designed as a series of FMX exhibitions to showcase the main Red Bull X-Fighters World Tour, attract thousands of people in every country they bring down a show everyone must see. The absolute record of spectators on site to witness the Red Bull X-Fighters Jams belongs to Sri Lanka.
Four selected riders came to Colombo to participate in the Red Bull X-Fighters Jam to show the skills they have on the dirtbikes. South African Nick De Wit, one of the world’s top back-flip specialists, Belgians Jimmy Verburgh and Gilles Dejong, and Swedish Daniel Bodin teamed up to rock Galle Face Green with the local crowd. The four FMX4EVER riders performed a variety of thrilling tricks including various back flips combinations during all 3 demo sessions. The crowd simply could not stop cheering and screaming for the 4 daredevils.
Jimmy “Jimbo” Verburgh, who is the captian of the FMX4EVER crew said: “It was one of our greatest shows as the crowd was just amazing, so we hope to come back soon!”
Across the globe – from Lima and Taipei to Prague, Pretoria and, as was the case this weekend, the largest open space in Colombo – every single one of the Jams has drawn enormous crowds. Jimmy Verburgh, the organiser of the Red Bull X-Fighters Jams and one of the regular riders, explains their popularity: “People know about the Red Bull X-Fighters World Tour from seeing it on television, and they use the Jams as an opportunity to check out freestyle motocross live.”
Whatever the event, Jam or World Tour, the performances of the pro riders in 2010 have left fans on all five continents often rubbing their eyes in disbelief at the tricks on show. This season the members of the international freestyle motocross elite competing in the Red Bull X-Fighters World Tour 2010 completed almost 800 jumps, of which over 500 were flip tricks, and flew 17,000 metres in the process, making them true kings of the skies.
