Next stop on the ASP Women’s World Tour: Bells Beach. The great and the good of female surfing are all set to contest the Rip Curl Pro...
The iconic pointbreaks of Victoria, Australia will be the battleground for the ASP’s Top 17 ranked women and what a fight it will be, as Sally Fitzgibbons and Sofia Mulanovich look to put pressure on champion Stephanie Gilmore.
19-year-old Fitzgibbons has been in fine form since the start of the season and only lost narrowly to veteran Chelsea Hedges in the final of the Drug Aware Pro in Margaret River earlier this month.
Mulanovich fared less well last time out, the former champion losing to Aussie young gun Laura Enever in the Round of 48.
She will be doubly determined to make amends in Victoria but both ladies will have to be at their very best to topple Gilmore who has started as she means to go on.
The three-time ASP Women’s World Champion and current ASP Women’s World Number One kicked off 2010 in fine fashion with a win at the season opener on the Gold Coast and is already favourite to add to her three world titles.
The Rip Curl Pro begins on March 30, with the final scheduled to take place on April 5.
