They made their breakthrough with videos featuring a high performance car belonging to guitarist Billy Gibbons, but rock legends ZZ Top got a tour of an altogether quicker machine yesterday when Sebastian Vettel introduced the veteran band to Kate’s Dirty Sister in Singapore.

The band, who became million-sellers on the back of a crop of hot rod-themed videos from their 1983 Eliminator album, are in Singapore to bring their particular brand of techno-boogie rock to the F1 Rocks offshoot of this weekend’s grand prix and Vettel was more than happy to show guitarist Gibbons, bass player Dusty Hill and drummer Frank Beard around the Red Bull Racing garage.

“I think they enjoyed it,” said Vettel of the trio’s tour. “We had some good fun, it was pretty cool and very relaxed. They were really interested and asked quiet a lot of questions. Of course I asked them quite a few back, after all they’ve been around for quite a while and they’re a pretty big name in music so it was really cool to meet them.”

The meet and greet did give the Red Bull Racing driver some pause for thought though. Vettel had arrived in Singapore sporting a new stubbled look but after meeting the luxuriously bewhiskered Top trio, Vettel admitted he’d think again about his bearded look.

“This?” he said of his stubbled chin. “It’s not really a beard. I don’t think it deserves the word beard. Don’t worry it will be gone by tomorrow!”
