Spotlight on the rookies

A host of talented drivers are in the running to follow Sebastian Vettel and Mark Webber as winners of the Autosport Rookie of the Year award – including at least two more Sebs from the Red Bull stable.

On the list of nominations are Scuderia Toro Rosso’s fledgling F1 drivers Sébastien Buemi and Jaime Alguersuari, IRC world champion Kris Meeke, WRC driver Sébastien Ogier and British F3 champion Daniel Ricciardo. Also on the list are F1 rookie Romain Grosjean and GP2 champion Nico Hulkenberg.

The award, first won by new F1 champion Jenson Button in 1999, will be presented at a glittering ceremony in London’s Grosvenor House Hotel in Park Lane on December 6.
