AMA Supercross Champion James Stewart rode out of Las Vegas $100,000 richer after cleaning up at the US Open Indoor last weekend.

It was a rare appearance in competition for the all-conquering 23-year-old who has taken a break from contest over the summer to prepare for the 2010 season.

It also gave him a chance to shake-down – and show-off – his new bike: a gleaming 2010 Yamaha YZ450F.

In contest, the San Manuel rider proved that he could lead from the front in race one on Friday and that he could come from behind to beat Ryan Villopoto after making a poor start in race two on Saturday. “This is always a fun event and I am excited to be a part of it,” said Stewart. “The US Open seems to offer up more bar banging than any other race.

“That was the first time that Ryan and I have raced since the Vegas Supercross in May, so it’s cool to get back out here to rub some elbows. Ryan was riding really well, but I just stayed patient and snuck by for the win.”

Stewart now heads to Europe for a series of Supercross events.
