Testing resumes on Tuesday

Scuderia Toro Rosso, along with the other ten Formula 1 teams, continues its Spanish winter testing adventure this week, when the Catalunya circuit, near Barcelona, provides the backdrop to the second of the three pre-season tests, starting Tuesday 19 February.

The first four days of track action at Jerez de la Frontera went reasonably well for us, with the first STR8 car racking up around 1,150 kilometres. We will be aiming to better that over the next few days, as we tackle a packed job sheet. The Catalunya track has always been a winter testing favourite and the cliché goes that a car which works well here will work well at any circuit: that’s a slight simplification, but nevertheless the 4.6 kilometres provide a more incisive test of a car’s aerodynamics than the Jerez circuit, while the surface is also a more valid one for assessing the new Pirelli tyres. Our driver rotation is the same as before with Daniel Ricciardo getting behind the wheel for the first two days, before Jean-Eric Vergne takes over on Thursday for the final two.
