Marc Márquez's new team Ajo Motorsports are hoping that the Red Bull teenage sensation will be challenging for the 125cc title next year.
The 16-year-old Spaniard, who finished eighth in this year's final overall standings in only his second season, is one of MotoGP’s hottest young prospects.
'We recognise the work we must do to provide Marc with the best possible chances of fighting for the title next season' - Aki Ajo
And, after the KTM team pulled out of the sport at the end of the season, he has been putting his new team's bike through its paces during a three-day testing session in Jerez, Spain.
Ajo Motorsports owner Aki Ajo said: "We are all extremely happy to get this chance to work with Marc, who is one of the most talented and promising riders in the series at the moment.
“I think many teams would jump at a chance like this, but we also recognise the work we must do to provide Marc with the best possible chances of fighting for the title next season.
“This three-day test is the first one for us together, so we should be on a good run towards the 2010 championship fight."
Márquez, who already has two podium finishes and two poles to his name, is raring to go.
He said: “I am very excited about the new project with the Ajo Motorsport team, and I’m really looking forward to riding the new RSA-bike. I want to be ready for the first race.”
